The Traveling Hungryboy

I was told that this little shop (1833 Kaohu Street ) has some of the best poke on the island. But there was one critical piece of information that was missing: it isn't available until 11 AM, and I got there an hour too early. The only thing in the glass counter that was available was this salad made from a local rainforest fern called pahole. It turned out that missing the poke was a blessing in disguise, as I otherwise would've never have known how awesome this plant was. It was tender and slightly slimy like okra. This salad was delicately seasoned, with those onions being very mild. That was easily one of the best things that I've had on this trip.
