The Traveling Hungryboy

This James Beard award-winning shack on the side of the road (2637 Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard, 919-237-3499) was exactly the kind of place that I was looking for, as its menu depended on whatever the local fishermen had managed to bring in that day. We picked a few proteins like scallops, shrimp, and oysters, with the scallops being my favorite due to how savory they were. They were fried just right with a light but crispy batter and yet still being moist and plump inside. It all came with some thinly sliced potatoes, coleslaw, and an array of dips, and was a nice break from all of the barbecue.
