I finally made it back to Kurohanabi tonight to get their gyumotsu, and it was awesome. That rich, savory, and slightly spicy broth was exactly what I needed to line my belly with tonight.
Those intestines weren't offensively offal-like, but instead deliciously fatty and complex. Spiking it all with their black shichimi (i.e., smoky with sansho) and washing it down with lemon sours just sealed the deal.
It's unfortunate that they had to bury their star dish under a bunch of other distractions on the menu, including ramen. And their ventilation is still just as bad as it was before. But I left this place with a big grin.
