The Traveling Hungryboy

This beachside restaurant at the upscale Fairmont Kea Lani hotel (4100 Wailea Alanui Drive, 808-879-7224) reminds me a lot of Mama's Fish House: it's a tourist-focused place that I would instinctively avoid, but the quality of the ingredients was better than I was expecting. That mahi mahi above was fresh enough to gobble down quickly, and the service was friendly too. The approach to food feels like a time warp though: one of the popular items here is a flambeed plate of strawberries, complete with accompanying theatrics. At least they used local strawberries and brown sugar.
