The Traveling Hungryboy

Not far from Kahului Airport are a couple of food truck parks (591 Haleakala Highway). Geste Shrimp has moved there, while I went for one called Havens, which is actually known for their smashburgers. But I wanted poke, and this one featured a local chili pepper called nioi, which provided a bit of heat. It also featured alaea, a local sea salt that is red in color after being mixed with volcanic clay. That batch above was pretty salty, but pleasantly savory too, going nicely with the rice on the side. Hopefully I'll get a chance to hit the other food truck park down the street on the way out.
