Another old unagi shop from Japan has opened an outlet in Singapore, this time at the new Gochi Church Street Japan Kitchen cluster (23 Church Street #01-02). I liked how they used very little sauce, and yet kept the eel moist despite having some crispy grilled edges. There was a bit of sauce available on the table if you *really* wanted to add some, but I got hooked on the sansho peppermill that you could freshly grind away. The rice was mushier than I preferred, but the quality of the eel made it better than Man Man Unagi, even if it was much more expensive.
