My hotel had beef noodles available at the breakfast spread this morning. I asked him to make it the way locals eat it here in Chengdu, so he spiked it with some chili oil. It wasn't overly spicy but nonetheless was fun to eat. In case you're wondering, those white blocks in the center were mild-tasting bamboo-like things.
