Shrimp Buns

I made it out to Momofuku tonight (171 1st Avenue, 212-500-0831). In many ways, it was what I had expected: proper quality ingredients, but heavily seasoned. And that proved true with a fluke crudo, which was done with so much seasoning, oil, and black pepper that I could hardly taste the fish. That shrimp bun above was fine (and fun), but an "Extremely Spicy Noodles" dish that I got was too much.

Sure, they warned me in advance, and yes, it made me not only sweat but also tear. But it was sheer heat rather than highlighting any flavor in the ingredients, thus making me think of an Adam Richman show more than anything else. It was so extreme that I gave up halfway through, sending the rest into the bin. Maybe I should've tried his other noodle soups and pork buns instead.
