There are a bazillion briyani stalls at Tekka Centre, but this is one that I've been wanting to try for some time (5 Serangoon Road #01-252). Why? The sign said very prominently that they use olive oil. Really?? I got really curious about what that would taste like, and the good thing is that it was better than I thought it would be. Granted, it was borderline dry in parts, and certainly wasn't as rich as a tradional ghee-fueled briyani. But it was edible and fragrant on its own right, and the mutton was tender enough to eat with a plastic fork. Now, I'm not going to cravings for it like I do for Bismillah, but these guys have fried shallots buried in there too. I just need to remember to pass on those sweet pickles next time.
