The Traveling Hungryboy

A stinky tofu stall has opened at Newton Food Centre (500 Clemenceau Avenue North #01-67), and I liked it enough to go back for seconds. I started with the white version above, doing a dry mala sauce. There was a bit of stank that brought me right back to night markets in Taiwan, but the bark was worse than its bite and easily edible (the thing that fuels more stank here is not the tofu itself, but the garlic puree that they throw on top). They also have a black version that is slightly more expensive and visually more hideous, but it was delicious, especially since I got a soup version that I drank down to the last drop. I'm happy to go back.
