Beef Noodle

To be clear, this was not Japanese ramen, but instead Chinese lamian. More specifically, it was halal Chinese, like Shejianjian, Xibu Mahua, and the now defunct Mazilu. And it's located behind Mustafa, on the former grounds of another halal Chinese noodle shop called Yi Zun Noodle (45 Sam Leong Road, 6291-6166). Despite a lot of lingering signage, they said that the current owners have nothing to do with Yi Zun anymore.

What about the food? The thing that struck me right away was the broth: it was crisp and salty with an oily overtone, in a good way. But the beef was very lean, and they were a bit stingy on the garnishes including the chili oil. The chili oil was still potent, and the noodles were fine, but I prefer Xibu Mahua and Shejianjian. I should go out to Joo Chiat to try Yi Zun one day either way.
