Our taxi driver recommended this very old institution in Paris (38 Rue Montorgueil, 1-42-36-83-51). But when we got there, it was filled with tourists. At least they had some interesting variations of escargot on the menu, like that foie gras version above, as well as even a gaudy 24 karat gold-leaf version. We passed on the latter, while the former tasted like a bit of foie gras was added to the usual butter recipe.
I didn't like the other stuff that we got, in particular the steak tartare that our waiter made tableside for us, as he put way too much mustard and gerkins in there. Looking back, this place probably kinda like Peter Luger in New York: it's an old school place with some history but it's overrun with tourists now, and the food isn't anything that I'd want to go back for.
